Webster Park & Lakefront Lodge Wedding - Rochester, NY - Kim & Vince
Kim and Vince made some wedding choices that made me feel right at home. First, they chose the same (stinkin'-hot!) week of the year for their wedding that my wife and I did eight years ago: the third week of July. They also chose a local park, like we did, to be the backdrop of their elegantly-simple wedding. They joined one hundred of their closest family and friends to celebrate their love together, and I loved getting to watch them enjoy their day together.
The ladies started out getting ready at the Holiday Inn in Webster, and the guys were at Kim and Vince's place. Then we traveled to Webster Park for a really special first look on the pier, and the ceremony under a covered pavilion.
Elegant Statler City Wedding - Buffalo, NY - Chris & Sara
Stunningly elegant.
Those are the first words that come to mind when I think about Chris and Sara's wedding day.
Yes, their venues were gorgeous: getting ready at the Hotel at the Lafayette , and wedding ceremony and reception at Statler City.
But Chris and Sara's day went beyond pretty locations, and it captured who they are and what matters to them.
Jerris Wadsworth Wedding Barn - Rochester, NY - Andy & Sarah
A great measure of someone's character and temperament is to see how they respond when things don't go according to plan. Andy and Sarah had quite a test when major rainstorms barreled in on their wedding day!
Their reaction was calm flexibility: move back the ceremony start time, add a first look to make sure they had couples pictures together, and just keep enjoying the day. They were amazing through all the rain in the afternoon, and then things dried up and we carried on with the day - and even ended up back on schedule by the start of the reception!
Elegant Woodcliff Hotel Wedding Ceremony & Reception - Rochester, NY - Helena & Lefteris
"Extravagant" isn't a word I use often, but it's what comes to mind when I think of Helena and Lefteris. It can be used to describe their wedding day - more about that in a minute! - but far more importantly, it's how I'd describe their relationship with each other. They overflow with love, passion, energy, enthusiasm, freedom, fun, and thoughtfulness. I saw those qualities in every part of their day, and they made it a joy to celebrate with Helena, Lefteris, and their friends and family.
Helena and Lefteris were married in a small courthouse wedding ceremony in Rochester last year, so this day at the Woodcliff Hotel was focused on celebrating with their friends and family. Lefteris is from Greece - the country, not the suburb of Rochester! - and the day was a thoughtful mix of American and Greek cultures.
Belhurst Castle Wedding - Geneva, NY - Aaron & Jen
I didn’t initially meet Aaron & Jen in my normal way. They live in Pittsburgh, PA, and her mom, who lives here in Rochester, found me - and I'm so glad she did! Aaron and Jen's families are both SO SWEET, and I loved how engaged Jen’s extended family was in the wedding preparations!
Aaron and Jen have been together for six years, and it was special to see how comfortable they were with each other in their own quiet way.
Max of Eastman Place - Rochester, NY Wedding - Adrián & Kristen
I loved Adrián and Kristen's wedding so much! They have a great story: he's from Spain, and she lives in Rochester. His job brought him over here, and pretty soon he fell for his cute ESL teacher! 🙂 I won't tell their whole story for them, but they're adorable together, and I was so honored to photograph their wedding at Max of Eastman Place.
They have another ceremony planned in Spain over the summer, but they wanted to make sure to celebrate with their Rochester friends and family as well. And wow, did they ever celebrate! Their wedding ceremony and reception were at Max of Eastman Place, which was a perfect location for their springtime wedding. There's an outdoor courtyard if the weather is nice, and we took advantage of the indoor atrium because, let's face it, Rochester - a 30-degree wind chill and occasional rain just doesn't make for a pleasant outdoor ceremony. :-)
